Fossil Shrimp
Authentic Lebanese Fossil Shrimp (Cretaceous Period)
Step back 100 million years to the Cretaceous “Lagerstätte” of Lebanon. Our collection features exceptionally preserved fossil shrimp, primarily of the genus Carpopenaeus, sourced from the world-famous lithographic limestone quarries of Hakel, Hajoula, and Sahel Alma.
What makes Lebanese shrimp fossils so coveted is the “Snapshot in Time” preservation. Unlike many fossils that only leave behind bone or shell, these specimens often showcase delicate legs, long antennae, and intricate segments of the carapace that were flash-fossilized in an oxygen-free environment.
